The ULU Factory uses the highest quality material for all their knives. Skilled craftsman use a stainless steel alloy, heat treated, hollow ground blade polished to a mirror finish. They then attach handles made from Alaska Birch, Walnut, Cultured Ivory, Cultured Moose Antler, or Jade.

The artwork and decorative designs displayed on the handles and blades are designed by renown Alaskan artists and skilled scrimshanders. They include M. L. (Mark) Baron, Steve Cabrera, John Hume, Armond Kirschbaum, Doug Lindstrand, Ed and Melba Mckenzie.
